The famous local brand District Donuts. Cursors. Brew. is known for the flavors spelled out in its name – coffee, burgers and donuts that are exuberant enough to rival birthday cupcakes.

The latest addition to the District’s ranks, however, brings something different and larger to downtown New Orleans, with menus that play out like a cross between a restaurant and a casual bistro.

The new restaurant is called District All Day Delicious and offers a mix of what the brand is famous for alongside a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (dinner hours are expected to start in a few weeks). It is also the first restaurant in the District to have a bar.

Some dishes are quite simple – ricotta and lemon pancakes and burritos for breakfast in the morning, a double-stacked burger, fish and chips and wings for lunch and dinner.

But in true District fashion, a sense of playful redesign runs through these menus as well.

There’s a Mexican pizza for breakfast, a sort of homage to Taco Bell’s fast food cult hit. “Hasharoni” resemble McDonald’s hash browns, but are made with macaroni and cheese, which burst into creamy strands from the crispy outer crust.

And you could walk into the Dome for game day after a plate of “breakfast wings,” finished with lemon-maple glaze and crumbled breakfast sausages.

A mixed approach

District All Day Delicious opened in early September in the South Market District development. Its address was previously a second Burger Company location, which closed during the pandemic.

The full bar offers a few cocktails on tap, including a mimosa and espresso martini. One of the frozen drinks, dubbed the Green Lantern, is a green chartreuse daiquiri with a potent herbal punch.

At the ice cream counter, the flavors seem to be inspired by the donuts displayed next to them. An Indian-inspired ice cream contains sweet curry and crispy pieces of rice. Another blends honey, toasted sesame and the subtle salinity of miso.
