BROOMFIELD, Colo. — So Delicious Dairy Free, which has been making dairy-free products for over 30 years, is launching Wondermilk, a new line of dairy-free frozen desserts.

These rich and creamy frozen desserts are made with a blend of dairy-free ingredients designed to deliver key attributes of traditional dairy products, such as sweet, balanced taste and creamy texture, the company said.

So Delicious Wondermilk frozen desserts are available in five pint flavors and two cone flavors, all of which are certified vegan and verified by the Non-GMO Project.

More than 80% of US households have ice cream in their freezer, but only about 11% are dairy-free offerings, according to retail sales data from IRI for 52 weeks ending Dec. 26, 2021. The reason for this is that many consumers believe dairy-free alternatives don’t compare to traditional dairy frozen desserts, So Delicious Dairy Free said, adding that a 2021 Food survey Business News found that among mostly plant-based American consumers, about two-thirds still choose the dairy version of ice cream while only a quarter consider dairy-free alternatives.

The five pints of Wondermilk frozen dessert are:

  • Buttered pecans, with rich caramel and pecans
  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate cocoa nibs, with rich cocoa swirling in every bite
  • Cookies and cream offers
  • Strawberry

Ice cream cones:

  • Salted caramel, which includes chocolate swirls
  • Vanilla peanuts, with crunchy peanut toppings and smooth chocolate swirls

“Let’s face it, people are always skeptical of dairy-free alternatives, especially when it comes to ice cream,” said John Starkey, president of plant-based foods and beverages, Broomfield-based Danone North America. , Colorado, whose portfolio includes So Delicious Dairy-Free. “We wondered if we could do something revolutionary: transform the right blend of dairy-free ingredients to create a deliciousness that rivals the rich, creamy attributes of dairy ice cream. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to capture that magic, and now So Delicious Wondermilk is raising the bar for the entire dairy-free frozen dessert category.

Wondermilk frozen desserts have a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $5.49 per pint and $5.49 for a box of three cones.

Danone North America’s portfolio also includes Activia, DanActive, Danimals, Dannon, evian, Happy Family Organics, Honest to Goodness, Horizon Organic, International Delight, Light + Fit, Oikos, Silk, STōK, Two Good, Wallaby Organic and YoCrunch.
